THE QUIZ POST
How The Quiz Post questions are made
The Quiz Post is built to be interesting, fair and broad enough to reward curiosity rather than specialist knowledge. Each edition is assembled as a balanced general-knowledge quiz, then checked before publication.
Balanced topics
The Quiz Post aims for a varied mix across science, history, geography, culture, sport, the UK and the wider world, without letting one subject dominate an ordinary edition.
Difficulty
Questions range from approachable to challenging, but even harder questions should have a clear and defensible answer rather than relying on obscurity for its own sake.
Sources and fact checking
Every published question includes a source behind its explanation. Dates, names, measurements and other answer-critical facts are checked before publication, with preference for primary, official or well-established sources where practical.
Explanations
Each answer is followed by explanatory context and a source so players can understand why the answer is right and read further.
UK perspective
UK history, geography, institutions, sport, culture and current affairs appear regularly while the quiz continues to cover the wider world.
Current affairs
Current-affairs questions are used selectively and checked close to publication. Developing or uncertain reports are avoided when they cannot support an unambiguous trivia answer.
Repetition and variety
Recent editions are checked for repeated subjects, answers and question patterns so returning topics provide a genuinely different angle.
Corrections
If a published question is found to be wrong, misleading or materially ambiguous, it can be corrected or withdrawn.
Before publication
Each edition is checked for question count, answer structure, category and difficulty balance, source quality, factual accuracy, repetition and the distribution of correct-answer positions.
